A tangible page from a 12th-century French illuminated manuscript, Le Demi-Lune in Le Bestiaire translates the rich history of medieval artistry onto a sophisticated leather form. The front face presents a five-chamber heraldic grid on aged-vellum cream leather, anchoring a stylized stag mid-leap with antlers and hooves subtly picked out in gold-metallic pigment. Flanking chambers reveal meticulously rendered figures of a falcon, hare, fox, and swan, each in iron-gall ink with selective gold accents. An illuminated capital 'D' in vermillion and gold graces the page's edge, encircled by faux-Latin marginalia in a true 12th-century scribal hand, inviting closer inspection of its intricate details.

The reverse carries the companion page of this imagined manuscript, featuring a powerful lion rampant in oxblood and gold at the heart of the design, encircled by mythical creatures: a griffin, a unicorn, a basilisk, and a salamander curled amidst vermillion flame. The two side gussets extend this narrative with marginal animal columns, one stacking the falcon, stag, hare, and swan, the other presenting the griffin, unicorn, basilisk, and salamander. Each image is meticulously hand-painted by human hands in our Hoboken atelier, ensuring fidelity to the original vision and an exquisite depth of colour that brings these ancient tales to life on the supple Italian leather.
